Challenge

Background

In legal work, risk and meaning rarely live in just one document. They emerge across a web of contracts, emails, policies, side letters, and internal notes, often written by different people at different times. Lawyers naturally connect these dots. They remember what was agreed in one place and apply it somewhere else. They notice when a clause contradicts an earlier side letter, or when a policy quietly overrides something in the contract. Most AI tools cannot do this. They treat each document as a closed box and lose sight of the bigger picture. What if AI could behave more like a junior lawyer who has read everything and remembers it all? What if it could recall relevant past agreements, spot conflicts across a matter, or tell you whether this clause is consistent with what the client signed last year?

Challenge

Design a working prototype that helps lawyers track, recall, and reason across multiple documents. This should go beyond simple summarisation or search.

We’re looking for creativity in how you stretch the concept of legal memory. Think about how lawyers work, not just how documents are structured. You don’t need a full product—what matters is the depth of your idea and how you use the platform to achieve it.

Example Solutions

Your solution might:

• Track legal positions across time or documents, such as how liability caps or termination rights evolve through drafts, contracts, or negotiations
• Flag contradictions, duplications, or subtle inconsistencies across contracts, policies, or other texts linked to the same client or deal
• Link and cluster related content that talks about the same obligation or risk using different language, such as clauses scattered across appendices, letters, and internal memos
• Support intelligent recall, such as answering, “Have we already agreed to something like this?” or “What was our fallback the last time we negotiated this clause?”
• You can use chat, tables, or live feedback in a drafting environment. The solution should feel like a legal memory that can be consulted and reasoned with, not just a document search tool.
