What does it really take to turn a lawyer’s everyday insight into a legal tech product? In this session, we share a story of building a prototype of a legal tech product called Lumina as part of an innovation competition CMS Ignite – from the initial idea, through the intensity of the Ignite bootcamp, to pitching to a room full of clients in OXO Tower.

This talk explores hands on experience with customer discovery, product design, pricing logic, and investor style scrutiny. Expect practical takeaways, honest reflections along the way, and insights for lawyers curious about innovation beyond traditional legal work.

Speaker Bio

Magdalena Czenko is an attorney-at-law and senior associate in the Energy and Infrastructure Practice at CMS Poland. She advises clients in the energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors on complex investment projects. Alongside her project work, she is a member of the CMS Innovation Team in Warsaw.

Iryna Barlit is a senior associate in the Banking and Finance Practice at CMS Ukraine. She advises clients, including international financial institutions, lenders and corporations on cross-border finance transactions, security arrangements, currency control matters and other complex Ukrainian law issues. In addition to her client work, Iryna is actively involved in the firm’s charity and CSR initiatives.
