In this talk, William explores what it means to build trustworthy AI for the legal industry. He will discuss how engineering decisions shape accountability in platforms as well as performance, the boundaries between human and AI decision-making as technology becomes more autonomous, and the role of agents in the future of legal work.
William Booth-Clibborn is Principal Research Engineer at Luminance, where he leads multiple engineering teams in developing cutting-edge AI systems for legal, using advances in LLMs and RL. Prior to joining Luminance, William architected semantic search systems at Scott Logic, and as a Full Stack Engineer at the University of Exeter, contributing to research and tooling for the UK Government, including DEFRA and MOD. William holds an MPhil in Data Intensive Science from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Physics from the University of Exeter.
